On January 31, 2024, the Jilin Province Forum on Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation was held in Yanbian Prefecture. The event was jointly organized by the Provincial United Front Work Department, the Provincial Education Work Committee, and the Provincial Ethnic Affairs Commission.
Attendees included representatives from the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education, the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, relevant provincial departments, and 53 provincial universities. The forum was chaired byFeng Qingzhong, Director of the Provincial Ethnic Affairs Commission and Deputy Minister of the Provincial United Front Work Department (concurrent).Hu Jiafu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Party Secretary of Yanbian Prefecture, delivered opening remarks, whileHan Fuchun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, spoke after the expert presentations.
Six experts and scholars from theChinese Academy of Social Sciences,Dalian Minzu University,Jilin University,Yanbian University,Northeast Normal University, and theProvincial Academy of Social Sciencesdelivered presentations.
Professor Han Xiping, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin University Committee, was invited as a special guest to deliver a speech titled"Leveraging Academic Strengths in Northeast China to Contribute to Forging a Strong Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation".
In his presentation, Han Xiping focused on three key aspects:
1.The profound significanceof General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.
2.The unique importanceof strengthening this effort in Northeast China.
3.The achievements and plansof the Northeast Ethnic Research Center at Jilin University.
His detailed and actionable insights received high praise from participating officials and experts.
