Chinese Northeastern Nationality Study Center of Jilin Universityis the only research base in Northeast China which was approved by theUnited Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee,the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Educationof the People’s Republic of Chinaand theNational Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People’s Republic of Chinain April 2023.It promotes the construction of a discipline system, academic system and discourse system of ethnic studies with Chinese characteristicsbased on Northeast China. It will provide important intellectual support forthe great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Relying on theNortheast AsianStudies College of Jilin University (A national high-end think tank) and theSchool of Marxism of Jilin University (one of the firstbatch of key Marxism schools in China), the Center integrates the strengths of the two A+ disciplines of Marxism Theory and Archaeology, and possesses a team of researchers with a reasonable age and academic structure, and outstanding teaching and research capabilities in forging the sense of Chinese national community. There are more than 20 full-time researchers and 18 part-time researchers, including 22 professors (researchers and research librarians), 13 associate professors (associate research librarians) and 3 lecturers. Members come fromJilin University, Northeast Normal University, Jilin Academy of Social Sciences, Yanbian University, Tonghua Normal University,Heilongjiang Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, Liaoning Normal University, Bohai University, Yanshan Universityand other universities and research institutes covering Northeast China. It has leading pioneers in Philosophy and Social Sciences,teaching masters,top young talents of the National Ten Thousand Talents Program,Cultural Celebritieswho wonFour Batches of Talents Awardat the same timeandChangjiang Distinguished Professors.

The center is composed of chief experts, director, deputy director and academic committee.

The chief expert of thecenter is Prof. Han Xiping,deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin University,Changjiang Distinguished Professor,National Advanced Worker,leadingpioneer ofNational Ten Thousand Talents Programin Philosophy and Social Science,Cultural Celebritieswho wonFour Groups of Talentsat the same time.

The director of the center is Prof. Luo Kequan,deputydean of the School of MarxismofJilin University.

The deputy directors are Prof. Wang Cheng, Associate Prof. Zhi Jichao of the School of Marxism of Jilin University, Prof. Wang Zhigang of theSchool of ArchaeologyofJilin Universityand Prof. Song Qing of theSchool of HumanitiesofJilin University.

The director of the Academic Committee of thecenter is Prof. Shao Yanmin,teaching master of National Ten Thousand Talents Program, winner of Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award,Jilin Province Changbaishan Scholar Distinguished Professor, andthe Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of Ministry of Education of China.
